Year 3

The Key Stage 2 team are passionate about providing an exciting, purposeful learning experiences for all of our children. We recognise our responsibility to nurture and develop each child, across a broad and balanced curriculum. Our curriculum is topic based with enrichment opportunities offered throughout the year.

Homework guidelines

Reading

Your child will be given a school reading book. Please read with your child at least once a week and then record comments in their reading record.

Spellings / Literacy based Homework

Spellings are set weekly with a test on a Monday. To assist your child please practice these daily as this does help them to retain the words. A selection of word activities will be available to help your child to practise these at home.

Times Tables

Regular practice at home is essential. The Government guidance on times tables states that all children should be fluent in all times table (including up to 12×12) by the end of year 4. We are using Times Tables Rockstars to make this fun and engaging. The focus times table will be changed every week within TTRS.

Indoor PE and outdoor Games lessons take place each week. On PE days, children should come to school in their full PE kit which consists of:

  • Plimsolls and trainers;
  • a red t-shirt;
  • black shorts;
  • plain navy or black track suit for outdoor games.
  • School PE kit is available to order on the website.

Please send children into school in their PE kit on the relevant days.

Mrs McKenna will be on the main door most days of the week should you need to pass on a message or arrange a meeting. Alternatively, you can email the class teacher using the school email or ring the school office. We will try to respond ASAP.

We hope this information is useful. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact the Year 3 team.
